Afinitor is an oral prescription medication which is used for the treatment of a certain type of breast cancer, advanced renal cell carcinoma, pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, aggressive non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and subependymal giant cell astrocytoma (SEGA). The generic name of Afinitor is everolimus and it belongs to a class of drugs known as kinase inhibitors. Kinase inhibitors work by blocking the action of certain enzymes that promote the growth of cancer cells.
