Viibryd: Uses – Side Effects – Warnings

Viibryd is a prescription medicine used to treat major depressive disorder (MDD). This medication affects certain chemicals in the brain that may be unbalanced in people with depression. Viibryd is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) and a serotonin partial agonist.

Viibryd is mainly used to treat major depressive disorder, a common and serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think and how you act. This condition causes feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and loss of interest in activities that were once enjoyed. Viibryd is used to ease the symptoms of MDD including low mood, lethargy, sleep disturbances, appetite changes, poor concentration, and recurrent thoughts of death.

Viibryd is a relatively new antidepressant that has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to help treat MDD. Viibryd has been shown to be effective in reducing the symptoms of depression in adults. Studies have also suggested that Viibryd has fewer side effects compared to older antidepressants, and is generally well tolerated. Viibryd works by blocking the reuptake of serotonin, thereby increasing the amount of this chemical in the brain. This effect helps to elevate mood, increase energy, and improve daily functioning.
